Newark Charter High School
Newark Charter Jr./Sr. High School was a conversion and renovation of a commercial/industrial property on Elkton Road in Newark, Delaware for use as a new 1140-student junior/senior high school. Sports facilities included a 10,000 square foot gymnasium addition that features access from both outside and inside the school, with ADA-compliant entrances, ramps and railings. Three natural turf athletic fields were designed and constructed at the rear of the property, two for soccer and one for lacrosse/field hockey.
Landmark was responsible for ROW boundary survey, site design, stormwater management, parking lot layout, athletic field design, agency processing, and construction phase services including certified construction review. A traffic impact study (TIS) was performed to analyze the impact of the school on the intersection of Elkton Road and McIntire Drive in Newark.
