St. Georges Vo-Tech Sports Complex
Because of Landmark’s reputation, expertise and experience working with specialist artificial turf designers, the firm was selected by the New Castle County Vocational Technical School District (NCCVT) to provide site design for the construction of new athletic facilities and to retrofit the existing football/soccer field and track with synthetic turf and running surface. The previously constructed St. George’s Technical High School, located at 555 Hyett’s Corner Road near Middletown, was designed by others.
Phase 1 of the project included renovation of an existing football/soccer field and track with synthetic turf and rubberized running surfaces, and the design and construction of new natural turf softball and baseball fields and a multipurpose field for women’s soccer and lacrosse, accessways and a temporary “stepped” sloped amphitheater-like viewing area. In Phase 2, Landmark worked with the district’s architect to provide lighting and construction of a grandstand/bleachers, with press box, and a separate concessions stand.
The scope of services included civil engineering and site design, surveying, environmental, stormwater bioretention basin planting plan, permits and agency processing, and construction-phase services including certified construction review and New Castle County stormwater management as-built survey. Our environmental sciences staff provided remediation of an existing bioretention basin.
